Installation

INSTALLATION GUIDE

Getting AI WorkDeck onto your machine

Windows 10 / 11macOS 12 or later

You will receive two installers

WINDOWSAI WorkDeck-setup-[version].exe
MACOSAI WorkDeck-[version].dmg

The installers are supplied to you directly. Pick the one matching your machine: .exe for Windows, .dmg for Mac. Use the original file as supplied — forwarded, re-zipped or renamed copies may be incomplete.

Windows

Installing on Windows

Three steps. One security prompt appears along the way — that is expected. Click through it as shown below.

  1. 01

Save the installer to your machine

Save the .exe we sent you to a local folder. Your browser may warn that the file "isn't commonly downloaded and may be dangerous" — that judgement is based on download volume, not on anything found inside the file.

    AI WorkDeck-setup.exe

    ⋯
    Keep
▸In the download bar click ⋯ → Keep. If asked again, choose Keep anyway.
  2. 02

Run it, and get past the security prompt

When you run the installer, Windows may show the blue "Windows protected your PC" screen and list the publisher as unknown. This is the routine prompt for any program that has not yet accumulated download volume.

    Windows protected your PC

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognised app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.

    App: AI WorkDeck-setup.exe
    Publisher: Unknown publisher

    More info
    Run anyway Don't run
▸Click the small More info link at the lower left, then click Run anyway. Without clicking "More info" first, the Run button is not there — this is where nearly everyone gets stuck.
  3. 03

Finish the wizard, launch from the desktop

Accept the terms → choose an install location (the default is fine) → Install → Finish. A shortcut appears on the desktop and in the Start menu.

    AI WorkDeck Setup‒□✕
    Installing, please wait…
    Next
▸If Windows asks for administrator rights, right-click the installer → Run as administrator.

Why the security prompt?

SmartScreen judges a program by how widely it has been downloaded, not by inspecting the file. Anything that has not yet built up download volume gets flagged as an unknown publisher once. The prompt reports recognition status, not detected malware. Click "More info → Run anyway" and the installation proceeds normally; the prompt does not return afterwards.

macOS

Installing on macOS

A .dmg is not an installer — it is a virtual disk. Double-clicking only mounts it; you move the app into the Applications folder yourself.

  1. 01

    Double-click the .dmg

A white disk icon appears in the Finder sidebar and on the desktop, and a window opens.

▸At this point the app is not installed yet. You have only opened a disk.
  2. 02

    Drag the icon into Applications

The window shows the AI WorkDeck icon on the left, an Applications folder on the right, and an arrow between them. Press and hold the icon, drag it onto the folder, and let go.

    AI WorkDeck
    AI WorkDeck
    Applications
    drag here
▸Dropping it in is the installation. Do not just double-click the app inside this window — that runs it from the virtual disk; eject the disk and it is gone, and it cannot update itself.
  3. 03

Eject the disk, open from Launchpad

Click the eject icon (⏏) next to the white disk in the Finder sidebar, then open AI WorkDeck from Launchpad or the Applications folder.

▸The .dmg file itself can be deleted afterwards.

Still not installing? Check these four first

The download shows a blank page icon and does nothing when double-clicked

Usually the browser stripped the extension, or the download did not finish. Check that the filename ends in .exe (Windows) or .dmg (Mac). If not, save it again — and not from a forwarded copy.

Antivirus flags it, or deletes the installer automatically

Security suites frequently produce false positives on newly released programs. Restore AI WorkDeck from the quarantine list, add it to the trusted list, then install again.

"You need administrator rights"

Right-click the installer → Run as administrator. On a machine managed by your firm's IT, ask them to grant install permission.

macOS says the file "is damaged and can't be opened"

Almost always an interrupted download. Delete the .dmg and ask us for a fresh copy of the installer rather than using a re-shared one.

Still stuck? Send us a screenshot of the error together with your system version (Windows 10/11, or the macOS version number) and we can diagnose it directly.

Inside a Project — The Workspace

Clicking a project card opens the project workspace, shown below.

  • Project files Left panel

Lists all documents in the project. Use the Search files box to find a file quickly and click a file to open it; the toolbar above offers the common file actions.

  • Welcome actions Center

Create new file starts a blank document, Open file opens an existing document, and Open web browser opens a built-in browser tab.

  • KingAI assistant Right panel

Chat with the AI assistant to work on your documents. Type your request in the Message KingAI box at the bottom and send it.

Working with project files

Right-click any file or folder in the Project files panel to open its action menu.

Figure 11 — Right-click file menu

The menu is grouped into four parts. Create: New file and New folder. Actions: Rename, Duplicate and Download. AI: Add as context hands the file to KingAI for reference, and Start a new chat for this file opens a fresh conversation devoted to it. Danger: Delete removes the file.

The toolbar at the top of the Project files panel offers the same everyday actions:

Figure 12 — File panel toolbar

From left to right: New file, New folder, Upload files or folders, Refresh the file list, and Collapse / expand all folders.

Files can be added by clicking the upload button, or simply by dragging files and folders straight into the panel. There is no limit on the number of files, but each individual file must be no larger than 100 MB. Uploads are not restricted by file type; opening a file of an unsupported type, however, shows a "cannot be displayed" page.

You can also create files directly in AI WorkDeck. 18 formats are supported:

  • Edit & preview 10 formats

.md .txt .doc .docx .xls .xlsx .ppt .pptx .wps .pdf

  • Preview only 8 formats

.html .htm .png .jpg .jpeg .gif .svg .webp

Editing documents

Once open, a document is edited in the centre of the workspace. Formatting and reviewing work much as they do in a familiar office suite.

Chatting with KingAI

KingAI is the AI assistant in the right-hand panel. It can draft, edit and replace text, and record its edits as tracked changes. What it sees, how hard it thinks and which conversation it continues are set in three places:

  1. 1
    Click /

Click the / button at the bottom of the message box to open the command menu; you can also search it directly.

  2. 2
Search or pick a command or model

Under Context: Upload local files hands files from your computer to KingAI, Choose from project picks a file or folder from the project, /compact compacts the conversation history to free up token space, and New conversation clears the history and starts fresh. Under Models, choose which model answers — for example DeepSeek V4 flash or DeepSeek V4 Pro.

KingAI's thinking mode can also be switched directly from the message box:

Using the built-in web browser

The workspace includes a built-in web browser, so you can research online without leaving AI WorkDeck.

Click the browser icon above the tab bar, or use Open web browser on the welcome tab. The home page is a due-diligence directory that groups the sources you reach for most — company records, licences, intellectual property, litigation and so on — and it has its own search box.

  2. 2
    Browse in a tab

Web pages open as tabs alongside your documents. Type a URL in the address bar and use the back, forward and refresh controls to navigate.

  3. 3
Ask KingAI to operate the browser

The open page is attached as context and shown as a chip next to the message box. Through the built-in Browser control plugin (see Section 5), you can ask KingAI to open and interact with web pages to carry out your instructions.

5

Plugins

Plugins extend what KingAI can do — from legal-research connectors to built-in skills and agents. Open the Plugins page from the puzzle icon on the far left of the workspace.
